Features, Benefits, and Humor |

I had a make-up party at my home and was looking forward to seeing - and trying - the new line of products. The day of the party the consultant dwelled on the natural ingredients in each and every product we tried. She went so far as to pick up containers and read the ingredients to us. I wasn’t surprised when she didn’t get any bookings. That her company’s products are made with all natural ingredients is a feature. What the products DO for you is the benefit. Mention the feature. SELL the benefit.
The kitchen tool company I belonged to had a food chopper with the feature of a stainless steal blade. The benefits were many. it chops just about everything you would ever want chopped, it was fast — cutting down on preparation time, it was easy to clean and dishwasher safe, it was easy to assemble and take apart. All of these were benefits cooks would want. But what about the not so obvious benefits? Telling people features and benefits are the learning parts of the presentation. Telling people the not so obvious benefits can add humor and fun to your presentation. People book presentations to learn something and have fun. The number one reason they book is TO HAVE FUN. Talking about the less obvious benefits of your products, and having fun with it, is a way to add humor to your presentaiton. ![]() |
