HOW TO GROW YOUR BUSINESS IN A DOWN ECONOMY

Discover ways to have a bundle of bookings, sensational sales, and reap a havest of recruits.

Let’s face it, the economy is tough right now.  Throughout the country hostesses have canceled and bookings are down.  The credit card you joined your direct sales party plan company to pay off is getting higher instead of lower.  That car payment you wanted to take over is taking over you, and the j-o-b you wanted to quit is your newest security blanket.

Do any of these sound familiar?

  • I had 8 parties on my calendar and only 3 held!
  • The hostess called as I was going out the door to do her party, and canceled.
  • I had 15 guests at the party.  No one booked and sales were terrible.
  • I called 20 people and got only 1 booked.

Yet with the economic challenges, there are people that have all the parties they want, high sales, and are building a bigger and better team.  How are they doing it?  What do they know that you don’t?

I’ve been there folks!  I built my business in Northern Wisconsin, a tourist dependent area.  We had two winters in a row where we had no snow.  That meant no snowmobiles trails were open, no availability to cross country skiing, no winter sports.  Resorts and motels throughout the area had their phones ringing off the hook with guests canceling their reservations.  One supper club had a sign saying, “Stop in for lunch - than we can both eat!”  There were public service announcements on the radio asking the locals to have their out-of-town guests stay at area resorts and hotels instead of in their homes.  It was bleak folks.  It was VERY bleak!

Yet this was the very time, in the midst of all this turmoil, that I had people standing in line at my parties to book.  This was the time I earned a major promotion from my company that was based on sales.

I’ve been where you are and I not only made it - I triumphed!

I’ve received countless e-mails from consultants, just like you, asking how to grow their business in a down economy.  I’ve heard you and I’m here with the solution. Read the rest of this post »

SETTING ACHIEVABLE BOOKING GOALS

You’ve been told, to be successful in your direct sales party plan business, you must set your goals, develop an action plan and work you plan.  Setting your goal is easy.  By deciding what it is you want, you set your goal.  Developing your plan, on the other hand, is the stumbling block most people have to achieving goals.  How you develop your action plan is the difference between success and failure.

To reach any goal in direct selling party plan companies the first necessary component is to increase your bookings.  Everything in party plan selling comes from bookings:

the money you make

the number of recruits you have

the incentives you earn

Even the number of additional bookings you get all come from the bookings you currently have on your calendar.  So how do you develop an action plan to increase your bookings?

IT’S TIME TO BE THANKFUL!

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and once again I’m caught up in the shopping, preparing a menu, cleaning the house and all those things we that host the feast are subject to do.  We can get so busy we forget why we celebrate - we forget to be thankful.

I’m a reader.  If I move to a different location I never feel at home until I have unpacked my books.  Most of my books are motivational or inspirational.  One that taught me to give thanks was Corrie ten Boom’s “The Hiding Place.”  Corrie, a Dutch woman, and her sister, Betsie hid Jews during World War II.  The two women were caught and sent to a Nazi concentration camp.  Betsie was able to smuggle into the camp four tiny books each containing one of the gospels.  Once at their assigned barracks the two women discovered their surroundings were infested with fleas.

November’s Been Busy!

It’s been a busy a month and it’s only half over.  We had an exciting, historical election and you know the former history teacher in me was totally involved.  Lisa Young and I started our Direct Sales Jump Start program that is going great guns - there are still a couple of “seats” left if you’re interested (go to http://www.homepartysolution.com/jumpstart for more information).  And if you’re having a typical month in direct sales this should be one of your, if not your absolutely busiest month of the year.

But nows not the time to sit back and count your earnings.   Now’s the time to be planning January 2009.  It’s important to have a consistent calendar and get bookings for the early part of December, up until the time that holiday shipping ends.  But this is also the time to be planning January and getting bookings for January that will give you the start that you want for 2009.

Does your company have a January hostess or guest special to assist you in getting bookings?  Has that been announced yet?  If not, I encourage you to let people know what was offered last year and offer them a tentative date now to be confirmed once the specials for January are announced.

This Is What Jackie Has To Say

In the short time I have been coaching with Ruth, my amount of bookings has literally more than doubled!  I was doing 3-4 parties a month, and now I have 8 parties a month, thanks to Ruth’s coaching tips.  She taught me how to get guests thinking about booking a show right away using simple incentives.  Her ideas created ways for the guests and hostess to encourage each other to book a show, which has made my job much easier, not to mention much more fun!  I have seen dramatic improvements in my business since coaching with Ruth, and I am looking forward to more growth to come!

It’s a known fact that, in the direct sales industry, if you’re out of bookings you’re out of business.  Most people who book a party plan presentation do so at the presentation.  You need to encourage people to book by providing them reasons throughout your demonstration.  The easiest way to get bookings is to be “up” for your presentation.  Here’s some other ideas.

You are going to want to read this to the end for a cool offer!

We’re all familiar with coaches for our kids’ basketball or soccer teams.  They’re people who love a sport and want to pass it on to the next generation.  Today is a beautiful Sunday in September, and millions of people are watching their favorite NFL team.  So we’re familiar with profession sports teams and their coaches.  This past summer we watched the Olympic athletes and their coaches.

We’re all familiar with coaches when it comes to sports, but, what is a business coach?  A business coach is Read the rest of this post »
